Where would you go back to?
So your mid to late 20s like me, or maybe older, lived a busy life made a few mistakes as we all have, where would you go back to if you could. I think about this alot and often, going oh this would be a great place, oh I could fix this, I could fix that. I could if I went back there I could also prevent a lot of terrible events. Is that a good thing?
Now you might be thinking, stopping a horrible catastrophe, yeah thats a good thing and yeah stopping it would be but it would also change what we have achieved because of it. I will try and make this post as time travel friendly as possible. The World Wars were horrendus events that should not have happened but to go back and stop it, although saving millions of lives would also slow down technological advancements. Now you might be thinking screw technology I can save millions of lives, but thats what war kinda does. It forces people to adapt and create new and better ways of living/staying alive (also killing which is bad).
Now I am going slightly off topic here I am not on about a massive event I am on about your life, wow burn, but seriously it has a greater effect than you might think. Most people have heard about the butterfly effect right, well the breif version is you do something and it sends ripples out effecting bigger things, butterfly flaps its wings and causes a tornado. Well everyones life is like the butterflies wings, each interaction effects things down the line. So who is to say what you did do something that down the line will help save people. Now this doesnt mean you can do bad things and go ohhh its all part of the bigger picture, still be nice people just know mistakes are not the end.
You are you, seems pretty obvious right? you make a mistake, you want the easy way out and travel back and make sure it never happened, I have wanted that before and still do for somethings or just to relive past experiences. Stop! dont do it, if you ever get the chance, dont change your past, you make a mistake you do your best to correct it or just help ease it. You might have to apologise or even lose a friend but changing it will not only screw the timeline(insert timetravel shenanigans here) but also change who you are because of it.
Best example I have is from when I was at primary school, I was a violent person and always took playfights a bit too seriously. I got into a few out of hand fights and tried to get a few people in trouble and I almost got expelled. Luckily I got two stickers and thus did not get expelled, makes sense I know, but as much as that could have ruined my life and I could have gone into a life of crime and hard drugs but I didnt I learnt(Maybe slightly exaggerated for this context).
Now I know it isn't as straight forward as that for everyone but people need to learn to make their own mistakes but doesnt mean you cant have a bit of guidence. So listen to your family and friends they might know something you dont just like you might know something they dont, so help each other out and fail together. If a genie does ask where do you want to go back to just say now as you are amazing just the way you are.
