Christmas is over, new year next!

Well Xmas is finally over and today is my mums birthday. So like a good son I ran out last minute to get her a card and gift :). Tomorrow will be the eve of a new year and I shall be going round my friends for a 'few' drinks. Should be fun. My gf is going to Hog-many and I hope she has an awesome time there....possibly bring me back a souvenir.. lol jk. Happy New Year to all!!!

Grrr

I try not to argue or moan, however much I want to. I have always believed it is pointless, but every now and then I want to rant and it makes me feel bad. Lets hope I can resist the urge to do so for now other wise I might make more of an arse out of my self :P.

Nearly Christmas

Well Christmas is approaching but i'm still not in the Christmas spirit. Think my age is finally getting to me lol. Should be good though, catch up with family, eat, drink, be merry. Not all bad :) plus after got my gf coming up to visit :) :) :).

Quiz

We being as I am back home now I went to the pub quiz me and my friends here used to go to. It was a Christmasy one and I got a few answers myself. That, however, did not do good enough as our team came last. We had fun though and I spose that's all that matters.

Life at home

I am settling in well back at home and loving the fact the cupboards have a lot of food in them. I Saw my gran today and she was not a fan of the blue hair. I also caught up with a good friend and will be catching up with a few more tomorrow at a quiz I used to go.

Home and away

Finally arrived home safely after a 3 hour car trip. It was a lot faster this time as dad brought a satnav. The satnav did get a bit annoying at times as it beeped at every speed sign and when we went through any residential areas. I arrived to a new room, with wallpaper been re done and a new carpet. I was not too fussed at this as it was nice to be home and I had my computer with me. I proceeded to having a lovely bath, oh how I have missed them, the a nap on my comfy bed. Although my bed was smaller than the one at uni it was sooo much more comfy. I can't wait for Christmas and to go back uni even though when I go back its exams. Lots of revision to do.

WE GOT THE HOUSE!!!

We just heard today that we got the house that we really liked. It is cheap and awesome and everything is nearby. I won't be homeless next year :).

Its coming to an end

So the end of first term at uni is coming to an end on Friday when my dad is coming over to pick me up. It has been and amazing first term, met some cool and awesome people, learnt some new things (as I should), took up archery and hope the next term is just as good, possibly even better. Got to say will be nice to be back home and see my family and friends. Plus it's almost CHRISTMAS!!!.

Carol Service

Went carol service today. It was very good and had a good sing which I hadn't done in a while. Only 2 weeks till Christmas :).

Secret Santa and Project

Well I finally handed in my project, it may not be brill but I should pass. I am quite proud of my program, would never have made it if it wasn't for my awesome friends awesome coding skills. In the evening, about 6:30pm, we did secret Santa on the floor in the tiny kitchen. It was funny and very good. Everyone's gift was nice and some were clever and some were funny. I got some blue hair dye, it looks awesome and can't wait to dye my hair again. Should post some pictures, be funny to see what parents say. I am going home next Friday, Friday, Friday got to get.....enough side tracking, so should be nice to see all back home and relax a bit. It's not like I relax much here :P

DEADLINE!

Being as tomorrow is the big project deadline and CompSci are all sooo leet, it looks like few people shall be going to 24 hour computer room. Being the clever person I am I decided to go along and join them and see if I can get some of the extra work done. This should be a fun/blurry night/morning.

Xmas Meal

On Monday I went for the Uni's Xmas meal and was rather nice. Our whole floor dressed up smart excluding a few people who went in some festive gear. We were the first ones there so we got the best seats, we could bring our own booze as well, so that was handy. The starter course was either Pate or melon, I went for Pate. These we brought to our table, however, for the main course we had to get up and go in a cue which was a bit annoying, but the food was lovely so it made up for it. The pudding however, was OK but mine had bits of ice in it, so I took it back, complained and got some fruit pudding instead. All in all it was a brill night, good company, good food, music could have been better :P.

I have almost finished my level 1 of my project. When that is done I can move onto my 2500 words of description for Friday. Oh god this is going to be a fun few days.

Run, Forest, Run!

Nothing like a 3am run. Got back from coding and friend was like fancy a run, so obviously I said yes :P. I also kinda made it up cardiac hill, yay me, now time for more coding.

Secret Santa

Well our little floor have just picked out our Secret Santa's, well most of us. We had pretty much everyone crammed into our small kitchen to pick out names. It was quick and festive, with the Christmas songs playing in the background. I got someone quite handy as I have a fair idea what to get them, but I won't say their name encase anyone on the floor reads my blog. Very unlikely though. The present should be between £5 and £10 which I find a tad expensive as I am already running low on money. Can't wait to see who has me and what I will get, should be interesting.

RocSoc and sleep?

Went RocSoc last night, had brilliant time. Got few more CompSci people down who also seemed to enjoy it. Went round friends, got back bout 4am and feel asleep about 8am. Woke up at half 11 realizing I was late for a lecture I made a hasty move towards it. Luckily it was near by, however, I arrived in time for the lecturer to say right you can stop paying attention. At this point everyone started packing away, annoying. Am now going to attempt to get more money and do some more code before JugSoc and Archery later.

Stuff, stuff, stuff!!!

Well after sleepless nights and 18 hours awake I got a main part of my code working, finally. I still need to update my YouTube channel and catch up on my shows. I have even cut down on them and still can't keep up.  I never thought restless nights worrying about code would be so fun. Not much left now, hopefully should be done by Friday, then can start my documentation. That is where the real fun begins :P.

Fair!!!

Well after spending all night and morning coding I went for breakfast. After which I stole my friends bed and slept throughout the day. It was about 6pm when I finally got up and went out to he fair around 8pm. I forgot my camera so didn't get any cool pictures which I am upset about. I am going to watch 'The Birds' later with my friend, then get some food and do more coding. Yay!!!.

Awesome Night!!!

Last night I went to see the Blanks(Ted's band from Scrubs). It started off with a singer who wasn't too bad, then a comedian who was rather funny. He was drinking on stage and he said here is your future, so I shouted "What Future?" Which made him laugh and a few people in the audience. Then the main headline act the blanks came on and were awesome, I was recording for 20 odd minutes before ran out of space then phone died. I'm not too fussed though as they were AMAZING, they did all there songs plus a bit of extra stuff. At the end of the show we got to meet them and I shock their hands, got a picture with them and even showed Sam Lloyd(Ted from Scrubs) my shoulder and he was like "awesome". All in all a fantastic night I hope to have more like that in the future.

Mad few days

Last couple of days have been mental. Ignoring sleeping pattern, if you can call it that, I have been rather busy, not much project work though. Missed lectures on Tuesday and the one I had on Wednesday, had awesome archery social and finally won a match in the competition. I keep trying to do new videos for my youtube channel but keeps failing, as does my project work, It's hectic not always good hectic but dare I say It Im still loving every moment of it :).

O' Sleep where art thou!

I really need to sleep more its starting to make me feel a bit loopy. I also got confused yesterday what day it was but the lack of sleep seems to increase my intelligence as I seem to be doing rather well with my project. Think I should be able to get working code by end of this week and documentation done next week...hopefully.

Today I learned I can't learn...Ignore the Paradox...

Went round friends to try and get some more Java programming done. I understood what was being said to me when he was explaining it then as soon as he stopped I was like "......So how does it work?". It's rather annoying trying to remember something important that will effect your life when I can so easily remember random and useless facts. I would love some magic drug to make me understand or to be able to download the knowledge into my brain, but for now restless nights seem the only option.

Today I will do some Java!

I have been putting off doing some serious work on my Java project now for far to long. I have decided to set a time frame and I WILL follow it. I need to do well, I need to learn, I must learn! So I am heading off to one of my more knowledgeable friends to do some Java and hopefully will make significant advances in project. Wish me luck.

Today was a fun day, met up with some friends did a bit of work and done some karaoke. Also borrowed some  Star Trek :). Meeting friends was full of innuendos as most of my days are, also did another video for youtube, see earlier post for link. Later in the evening went local bar and failed at karaoke, immensely failed, had fun though. Uni is still good, crazy both the good and bad, I just need to do some more learning. The learning needs to be both life and Uni work, I just well as tittle says I can't phrase it, all Im willing to say is Im glad I am finally getting round to living my life.

Juggling, Archery and Fail

On Wednesday I went to JugSoc (juggling social) after missing it for two weeks and it made me sore. I spent most of the time trying to ride a unicycle and failing but I will learn it eventually. After that I went to archery where I had my first match in the archery club competition. I did quite well at the start then ended up doing really bad. I got some ridiculously low scores and also got white washed, I am not happy about that at all. Then quickly nipped back to my floor got my friends and went down into town for archery social. I didn't spend too much money mostly because my friend owed me money. I also got another drink because I went up to a person dressed in wrapping paper and asked if I could unwrap him for Christmas. Another fun night but I really need a job so I can have money!   

Running, Drinking & Guitar Hero

I think the title explains most of this. Last night I went for a run with a couple of mates from the floor. It has been a while since I last went for a run but I think I did quite well. We went the direction I went to collect my packages from post office depot then up towards Cardiac hill! Cardiac hill is as the name probably suggests very tiring, VERY TIRING. I started up it and instantly felt my legs aching and about half way up I had to give up and start walking. It was tiring even walking up it but when I got to the top it wasn't that far to go to get back to my room and have a shower. Then straight after that I met up with my friends at main reception to go down for some drinking and Guitar Hero. Got there and realized how bad I had gotten at Guitar Hero, made it through first round but got knocked out second round. The rest of the night I sat drinking and listening to my friends 'debate' it was funny. A rather good day and I think I might go running again.

It's not bad to risk getting hurt if it means a chance of joy, It is just hard. I know from current experience. I am thinking of making a post of my thoughts as well as my life as it goes. I don't know how many people read this but I am open for suggestions of topics.

Minecraft finally has an end and here are the credits they are rather good;

Sleep pattern

Well from last Sunday to Friday I got just over 10 hours sleep and so on Saturday I slept all day. I am now unable to go sleep, this is why I am awake at 3:40am, I think I am going to be awake for a bit now. Apart from funky sleeping project seems to be going OK. I will hopefully be able to finish it off before deadline, I am also thinking about starting to record some more videos for my you tube channel, mostly Minecraft. Uni in general is going brill, loving everyone here, doing lots of stuff. Will try and update more often as well.

Fun couple of days.

Got another note from post office saying my parents package had arrived 1 day after I went to go get my card. So I thought I got time in the afternoon I shall go for a walk to the depot. I was a bit dull but got some nice pictures, when I got there, I was told it was in CK's post office which is a shop just up the road from my accommodation. On way back popped into Stars, a shop my friend works at, and got a finger gauntlet as it looked awesome. By the time I made it up the hill the post office was closed so I shall be collecting package in a bit. I also went for an X-ray on my shoulder, its got a metal plate in it :), to see whether it was coming loose. I have to go back and see my doctors in about a weeks time. Archery was fun as well as it was the last lesson of the beginners course and there were balloons on the targets, I popped 2 :). Went archery social after and bribed some people, with Worthers to get let off from International drinking rules. Been a good couple of days.

Sore feet but £100 pounds better off :)

Had some early lectures today(Monday) and so decided to go for a walk to get my money I won. I wasn't alone though a friend from my floor came along for the chilly walk. We had a quick look round town, got some Costa coffee and then headed off on our trails. We were going to get a taxi but it was too expensive, well I thought it was. I had a pedometer app on my phone to see how long the trip would be. Just after we passed Morrison's we stopped at MacDonald's for a little snack then we carried on. It was a bit dull but the scenery was nice and so was the company. I had to ask for some directions along the way as I couldn't be sure which way was the right way. We eventually made it to the bridge we were meant to go under, there were no paths, so we had to walk on the road. My friend was a bit scared :P. We then went over a bridge over a river and we were at the industrial estate. Popped in to the smallest office I had ever seen and went to collect my money card. I handed the post receipt card over, which didn't have my name on it, so I was asked for some Id. I handed it over and she said "That's funny we have two other packages here for people with surnames Marriott". Small world. All in all good and tiring day, card registered and got to learn a bit more about my friend.
Side note: My CS121 project seems to actually be developing now :).

Damn post office

Just went out today to the post office to collect my £100 pound winnings, seemed like a good idea as was nice weather. Then I got told the post office was further than thought and ended up running and not knowing where I was going. Never found it but did get some nice photos of the place and on way back saw loads of post office vans driving back.

Finally!

I have finally finished Batman: Arkham Asylum. It has been a nightmare, first getting steam working at uni, then I couldn't recover my save, then it kept crashing. Well I have no finally finished it and I am looking forward to Arkham city :). I am also looking forward to playing Battlefield 3 but I am trying to save my money, hopefully I get a job soon. My CS121 project is still annoying me but awesome Comp Sci friends have been helping me, thanks guys. I hope to have a reasonably workable program by the deadline and some decent documentation, I just hope for the love of god I pass :/.

A little stroll

Just been out down to 24/7 spa to get some nom's. We left at around 4am got some shopping done then headed down to the seafront. The sea is always so...thought provoking???...It was nice just standing there listening to the waves wash in and flow out, looking out in to the blackness not knowing where the sea met the horizon. It was so relaxing. The reason for this late night stroll was one of my flatmates finally finished his essay not 10 minutes before we left. It is due in today at 11am I believe he said, he wasn't the only one who was still up doing an essay. We are back now and the other two flatmates have gone to watch Grown Ups and I came back to my room to possibly, maybe try to kinda get some work done,  instead I ended up coming on here. Oh dear. Im also trying out openSUSE and so far I am rather liking it.

Stuff, Stuff, Stuff...

Well uni is getting busy. I got my project for CS121 which is my coding part of my course. It's a simple concept but its annoying the hell out of me. On other news I went to the doctors the other day and was diagnosed with sinusitis, its very painful and im on tasty antibiotics. I also finally got my £100 winnings confirmed and it should be on its way, provided I gave them the right address. It's currently 1.52am I have a annoying cough and a fresh install of openSUSE to play with, I knew I wasn't sleeping tonight. Another cool thing I found out, a 'second year', not entirely sure apologise if wrong, has mentioned me on their site. I feel so privileged. Well that’s bout all that's all that’s really been going on in my life thrilling eh, oh also applied for job at local shop. If you have anything you would like me to talk about feel free to comment below.

Gregynog!

Just got back from an awesome two days at Gregynog. Bit of a really sore throat but other than that was good laugh. While there we were put into teams and we had a load of tasks to do for points. We learnt different ways of starting fires :), treasure hunts, dragons den and a load of random games. Few of the random games focused on things like team work and communication, one seemed focused on getting people wet :P. There is still half of Comp Sci still there so we won't find out who the winner is for a bit. Few of the fun games were Sheep and Shepard, carrot launch and giant Jenga (even though it was in the pub and worth no pints). Sheep and Shepard was fun, all but one team member were blindfolded, there were 8 in our team. We had 15 minutes preparation time and the Shepard had to guide the Sheep into the pen with out speaking works. We used car noises for forward and stop and moo and baaaa for right and left, it did get us laughing a bit. Carrot launch was one of our first tasks on the first day there. The aim was using a cannon, just pvc tubing and a Hoover to create a vacuum, launch a shaped carrot as far as possible. The Jenga in the bar was a right laugh as some of the people playing were making it harder for the next person. There may have been a little bit of cheating going on :P. Over all it was a damn good two days and would happily do it again, right laugh and met some really nice people.

Past couple of days have been tiring and im off to Gregynog tomorrow morning and can't sleep. :(

Test

Today was fun, I had an exam on Java and UML. I got a text part way through and my phone wasn't on silent, I always seem to forget to do that. So switched it to silent five minutes later I heard a buzzing, I was being rung by an unknown number. After the 50 minute exam which I feel I did very badly on I listened to my voice mail, It was the people who I had won the £100 off ringing to sort details out. The message though said they will try and contact me 3 more times and if I don't answer I forfeit the money. WTF! Why can't they give me a number to call when im NOT IN AN EXAM. So if im in a lecture/busy when the ring next im just going to pick it up, say im in a lecture call me back at a better time. They know im a student as only students can only enter the copmpetition so they know I would be busy. Also got my Comp Sci hoody today, Yay! It's red with; Comp Sci on the back in cool pixel-ey writing and Marriott on the front. It's soooo coool :) So yeah today hasn't been that bad and got JugSoc(Juggling Social) later followed by Archery and Archery social. 

Awesome day :)

Well my hair is now dyed green/turquoise ish, you decide from pictures. The day started off well and its getting better, just won £100 by texting a simple code, now all I need to do is wait for my money :). Got tutorial later and I need to go as missed last weeks :/ them end the day with maths, how fun. Shall be out later to RocSoc (Rock Social) so that should be good, can't wait to see what other people think of my hair :).

Technology!

Discussion with friend prompted this post. What OS do you use? Windows, Linux, Mac? They each have their own philosophy, marketing methods and own ways on doing things. I wish people had the courage/opportunity/time to try them all out and form their own opinion on them rather than listening to the media and what the shops give them pre-loaded. I would like people to be able to give legitimate reasons for not wanting a certain OS', like 'I like windows cause I can play all my games' or 'I like Linux cause I can easily configure everything' etc. Every OS' has its advantage as it has its disadvantages. Technology should be like a blob of goo that you can shape and colour to your needs or have pre shaped to your needs.

Fun Day

Today I went to my lectures in my cream suit, shirt and trousers while drinking out of a coconut. It was hilarious, some of the reactions were brilliant. There should be a picture appearing on here soon, just you wait and see how awesome I look :P.

I just been poker had two re buys and I failed miserably. This week was not my week mostly cause im missing my good luck charm. Note to self must stop spending money!

MUST WAKE UP EARLIER!

Any who, its poker night tonight and last week I came 15th out of 71 and was in the run for a cash prize. I ended up just re raising everything and getting knocked out as my head felt like a boiling kettle. The fact I stayed in for so long was amazing, I won some large pots with; 2, 5 off suit beating a King, Queen, then a 2, 4 on suit and a pair of 2's which from the looks of things around me made me look like chip leader. I intend to be a little bit more careful today as I am meant to be saving my money :/.

 Well my hair is bleached now and its looking....awesome. Shall try and get some before pictures so you can have a comparison but for now this is all your getting :).

First post!

Right I am new to this all so be kind please. I am currently at uni in Aberystwyth studying Computer Science. I am loving it, people here are awesome and crazy, just like me :). I have taken up archery and climbing. Archery is awesome but not done much climbing. A bit about my self; I am crazy, just dyed hair bright blonde (naturally blonde though, will be going green soon), I have a metal plate in my shoulder and I love to have fun. I dont know what to put atm as its early/late for me. This blog will basically be my outlet for rants or funny stuff, e.g. type ": %0 | %0" without quotes in Microsoft CMD, if you know what fork bombs are you may not run it, but then you may be running some Linux distro. I am an Ubuntu fan along with other OS', Windows is only ok for games. Will possibly update/post with new stuff every other day.
