Been a while

Well I am on my summer holiday away from university and it's been going rather well so far.

    Since being back I have got myself a part time job at peacocks, I have visited my awesome gf, which I intend to do again soon and I am back up doing YouTube videos. Its been quite fun so far but when I get paid I am going to attempt to make and led 8x8x8 Cube thats looks awesome(google it to find it :P).

Spoons guest ales: East Side

Time again for another guest ale at spoons. Today is the last day I shall be in Aber for a while so thought a pint was needed to celebrate.

Today's pint is east side cream which a dark strong colour and a strong flavour. Its a nice 5% and only £2 here.

It has a rather strong and fruity taste with a bitter after taste. It is reasonably smooth and easy to drink. This would go very well with spicy dishes.

Overall a well bodied drink with nice flavour and colour. Overall I shall have to give it an 8/10. Definitely recommend if you see it at your local.

Its a nice day and revision going brilliantly so thought I would treat myself to a beer and Burger. This beer is torch light at a reasonable 4.4%.

The smell is pretty much non existant and the colour is a clear and light brown.

Its flavour is very light and subtle with a tangy aftertaste that dissapears quickly. There's a slight fruit taste when in the mouth and is quickly followed by a mild malty taste.

Not the best ale I have had but very palatable. Ideal for food as it doesn't overpower with flavour.  Recommend having after had a few. 5/10 nice but not much flavour.

Spoons guest ales: Hop Bomb

Well its a sunny day in Wales, believe it or not, so I have decided perfect time for another guest ale.

Today is hop bomb at a reasonable 5% alcohol content. The smell is light and fruity and the colour is a light browny orange which is slightly cloudy.

The taste at first is a bit sharp but after swallowing there is a string bitter and fruity flavour. The taste stays for a bit but gets bitter over time.

Overall a very nice piny for a warm sunny day, you will find yourself constantly sipping at it. Its definitely best served cold and only for those who like fruity and bitter pints. For this pint I shall give it a 7.5/10.

Stress down

Well I handed in my final coding project for the year, yay. The stress of this project was mental, I hope I pass with at least 60%, need to if want to continue.

I Have about a week before exams so I am going to start revising asap. I also need to find a job over the summer holidays as well as work on my coding skills.

I am thinking of making an app for android or Even a free computer program. Not sure what though. Either way I plan to stay busy and not let my mind waste away.

Anyway hope those who actually read this find it interesting I do try and update whenever I can. Until next time, I'm off to have some awesome spag bol, laters.

Shooping

Out shopping for Friday. Got to get clothes from charity shop for it.

Had upper limit breakfast for breakfast and dinner and was lovely.

Shoulder in pain but should be nice to get home and relax.

Might go spend some vouchers at Uni art centre as have 55 pounds worth left from 60 and 10 whsmith voucher. This was all from letting people see living area. Plus should get get some actual Money for showing my room so yay :). 

Update

Well I'm in lecture stressing about project that's in soon and house cost.
Project shouldn't be too much of a problem if I can get a working project and some decent documentation.

I need average of 50% for the year in coding module to carry on so up most nights working on that.

House, oh boy has this been a pain. It has risen in price and estate agents being annoying.

Hopefully shouldn't be a problem to afford. I hope to get a job soon to add some money to my dwindling finances.

Back at Uni with awesome gf. Lots to do on project, should be fun, also got to revise yay. On a side note my wisdom tooth is coming through and hurts like buggery. Next few weeks should be chaotic.

Now shameless plug is done bit about what I have been up to. Currently still in Uni durnig a bit of the holidays doing some of my individual assignment. I have to create a Point Of Sale system for a pizza shop and revise over a short holiday, not nice at all.

I keep trying to update my blog more and more but been a bit dull recently. Been swimming, done work, made few youtube videos. I need a project for me to work on so over the next week or so I shall hopefully find something to do.

I NEED a job. Money Is being stretched really thin and I want to earn some money. So far I am hoping my Google AdSense goes up to £60 so I can claim it. Just wish I could make a popular video, that would be brilliant.

Tired, Head hurts but loving doing work....

I have been working on my XHTML assignment for a while now and quite late as well. I hope it gets good marks as I feel I put a lot of effort into it. On a slightly similar note I had and in class assessment today...on another campus. It wasn't too bad as it was a nice day but I did really bad on the test as I failed to answer the last two questions missing out on 35 marks. Oh well looks like I am working my ass of on individual assignment (not XHTML) and revising a lot for the test.

MY BRAIN HURTS!!!

I have been doing so much work recently it hurts my head. One group project in, group presentation done, Web page making OK progress, PDP still miles behind and in for next week and still got another project to be handed out.

Morning annoyance

Well I was up at 4am today as I need to do work. Got project in for Thursday then another on the Friday and then more and more.

Memes!

The interwebs define them as;

An element of a culture or behavior that may be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, esp. imitation. An image, video, etc. that is passed electronically from one Internet user to another. Whether its Nyan cat, Rick Rolling or even adding "all of the " to *insert item/topic* memes are a popular and very handy thing to know how to use. Idea - First you need an idea whether it be from a obscure game or film or even one you created you need to have something that's catchy, annoying and sure to be used a hell of a lot. Even bad stuff can become memes (see Rebecca Black).  Catchy - It has to be something simple that everyone can say/do or join in on. It doesn't even need to make much sense. Repetitive things seem to work well or simple tunes. Combine the two for epic memes. Adaptability - The meme has to be able to be used in a wide range of scenarios. It's all good having a catchy tune but if you can bring it up often it will soon die out. The "All your base are belong to us" meme from bad Zero Wing translation has been used in a lot of things. "all your chips are belong to use" etc. Another notable one is over 9000! (Google these if you have never heard them before). Finally Life Span - A good meme will last a while or even return after some down time. If you can create a meme that is original, interesting, catchy and can adapt to many scenarios and have the talent to manipulate that you can be very rich. A good example of this is the Numa Numa guy, Gary Brolsma, who although making himself look a bit silly is not quite well off.

Although this is only half the marks of the overall year.

Ad-sense Money Making

Google AdSense... it can be a good idea if you get enough traffic to your site. I currently have two sites running google adsense, first being this one second being http://www.youtube.com/user/mentalmarriott.

I don't get the most views ever but I get a fair bit. I need to work on a few things though still of which could be handy for you to know. If you haven't got an adsense account it might benifit you just that little bit.

Meta tags - Meta tags help search engines locate you faster and better for the correct content. This has the added benefit of keeping people who come to your site here longer.

Interesting and informative - If your content is not informative, interesting or just not what the user wants then they won't stay. The longer they stay the more likely they are to click on ads.

Consistency -  This is where I fail at most. Keep updating your blog/site regularly. Even if some days it is just crap. It keeps readers coming back to see if anything new has been posted.

There are many more things to help boost traffic but sometimes you have to try new and different things. If you can create a popular meme thats very good. A funny video or some helpful advice, keep thinking of new ideas and DON'T click your own ad's.

Top of the Pile!

Listening to Shippo go on about how to be top of Google rankings. This is very interesting as I need more traffic to my blogs and youtube channel so people click on my ad's. (Disclamer: I am not asking people to click my Google ad's as that is not allowed by Google's policy). Need to get some Pics up, alt tags and keywords.

Break up content - Example right here, separate out different topics so easier to skim read. Can look through quickly and find what looking for.

Keep it simple stupid - Don't fill your main page with loads of crap that is useless, make it important. Make it load fast, rich keyword text, synonyms.

Counters -  A small widget in the bottom to keep record of how many people visit your site. Very handy to see if your site is popular or not. Helps to see why you get more views one day than another.

Archery fun :)

Today's archery was rather fun. Not only did I get near to the centre of the target I also managed to hit the target in the back of the board. Fingers are a bit sore because I didn't use the finger protector and the cold weather doesn't help. Think I am getting better though at archery.

Lovely lie in

Had a nice lie in after watching the rugby yesterday. England didn't play as well as I was expecting them to. Wales play Italy today, Wales most likely win so going to cheer on the underdog. Come on Italy...

Weekend begins!

Well it is the weekend and I have just walked my gf to train station and won't see her again till Sunday, sad times. However, there is a silver lining, rugby 6 nations is on later :). It's quite early, especially for me so may end up having a nap later.

Awesome Day!

Today was amazing. Had a wander round town today with the awesome girlfriend :). Went in brilliant shop with cheap stuff and amazing gf got me a rechargeable heat pack for my shoulder and an instant boil kettle. She is awesome. Then she brought me breakfast :O. I must be doing something right :). Now I am off to archery so shall speak later.

Need Web Pressence!

Just had a rather fun lecture on getting web presence. It wasn't what the lecture was meant to be about but was very interesting. I need to get a proper web page set up and even dare i say it twitter *shudders*. Got a blog to do for my work for Friday but the system still hasn't been set up so we can do it lol. Also got a cable from ebay today that was meant to be a crossover cable so I could back up my laptop and sell it but I got sent standard Internet cable. Good food good film

Just went round to a friends and had home-made meatballs and spaghetti and watched a film. The meatballs were delicious and the film was good. Nice to be back after watching Robert Di Niro in one of his campiest roles.

What happened to personal data being personal

In the past couple of weeks you may have heard of a little thing called SOPA and ACTA. These are stupid, well that's my opinion. No one should have the right to look at personal data. I understand trying to stop copyright infringement but not if using say clips from a film for a funny review. Its for entertainment value not selling the the film but creating new ideas from the clip. Without this freedom sites like YouTube and thatguywiththeglasses etc would crumble and creativity would diminish. We need to open things up not close them down and restrict ideas as without ideas we can not progress and evolve as a race.

Exams!

Next week I have most of my exams. I am not looking forward to it and so I am revising like a maniac. After exams should be able to update more often. All really done today was have a wander round the coast which was quite nice.

Well I am finally back at uni and revising like a mad man. Got few exams coming up next week so lots to do. I am glad to be back and look forward to meeting up with everyone. Shall update more as more happens.
